Goblins from around the Globe

goblinsThe earth is littered with the lore of magical creatures. One of the most mischievous creatures with an over reaching bad rap for malicious tendencies is a Goblin. Goblins have been around for a long time, even having their own name in Medieval Latin. If you have been dealing with an unseen trickster wreaking havoc on your life it’s possible that you may have a goblin on your hands. So here are a few types of goblins that have been reported around the world.

Hobgoblins

Hobgoblins

Closely related to brownies, hobgoblins are thought to be one of the most benign forms of goblins. They are small tricksters that love to mess with human lives through direct influence or theft when they are really in a mood to pull practical jokes. If you feel you have a hobgoblin dwelling with you it’s important to remember they are solitary creatures. However they have been known to be helpful around the house they reside in, in exchange for bowls of milk and warmth. Try leaving a candle by some fresh milk and maybe they will forgo some of their tricks and lend you a hand instead.

Trow

Trow

If you have attempted to appease a hobgoblin with no luck, you may be unfortunate enough to have drawn the attention of a trow. Trows are considered to be nocturnal as well to the point where they are never seen in the sunlight. However, their outside appearances at night are rare since they are invisible to most humans. They are attracted to the light and warmth radiating from homes during the night and often play mischievous pranks on the people who live near their dwellings.

Hogboon

Hogboon

Similar to hobgoblins hogboons can be very friendly, if treated properly. They tend to dwell near farms rather than homes and have been known to bring luck and prosperity to the family who owns the land. However, if the family fails to return the generosity by not sharing the goods of the farm with them they become spiteful creatures. They have been known to not only make the land barren but to go as far as to kill a human if they attempt to pilfer from the hogboons treasures.

Bogey

Bogey

If your children are convinced you have a boogieman in your home, it’s quite possible you have a Bogey. Bogeys are short furry and tend to be completely black in color and live in the dark places of common houses such as attics, cupboards, and closets. They love to pop out from their hiding places to scare children and adults within the house.
