With so many reports of haunted locations, it makes it hard to distinguish the real ones from the fake. If you are planning an adventure in the paranormal this summer vacation we have some suggestions to help you get the most boo for your buck.
5. The Stanley Hotel
Stephen King’s book The Shining has become so popular that its movie is even been announced as the featured fright theme of Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights this coming October. His book was inspired by his stay at the Stanley in Estes Park, Colorado. During his stay in room 217 Mr. King reportedly heard ghost children playing in the hallway. He is not alone in these claims. Numerous guests of the Stanley Hotel have experienced paranormal activity during their stay. Guests and employees alike have experienced faint music coming from the ballroom and seen the piano keys moving. While many spirits are believed to haunt the location they all seem harmless. Making the Stanley a safe and still spooky spot for your stay.
4. The Woodchester Mansion
Woodchester Mansion is a Gothic Victorian mansion located in Gloucestershire, England. In the last 200 years, workers have repeatedly run from the place and seven builders are rumored to have died in inexplicable accidents. The mansion is said to be the most haunted place in the UK. If you don’t want to spring for the ghost tour there is a free guided tour of both the external and internal features of the building. This tour, however, focuses on the architectural aspects rather than the paranormal.
3. The Parisian Catacombs
The Paris Catacombs are mazes of tunnels and crypts underneath the streets of Paris. Over the course of about 30 years, the bodies of the dead were placed inside them. These tunnels contain the bodies of roughly 6-7 million Parisians. While you can take unofficial tours, or go in alone, we don’t recommend it. Before you decide to set off on your own in the tunnels we suggest watching as above so below.
2. The Rose Hall
If you are looking for somewhere sunny and warm while you do your ghost touring, then Montego Bay Jamaica is the perfect location for you. The Rose Hall is believed to be haunted by the ghost of Annie Palmer. Annie Palmer was the daughter of a Voodoo priestess who died in her bed after an 11-year reign of death, torture, and nymphomania. According to stories, Annie has murdered three husbands and a succession of slave lovers by poisoning, strangulation, and witchcraft. She also forced other slaves to carry bodies through a tunnel to be buried on a beach. It’s said that it is not just Annie who roams the house, but also ghosts of the slave babies she sacrificed in rituals. Reports have it that her male victims have actually been not only heard but also captured on camera.
1. Bhangarh Fort
Holding the number one slot on our vacation list for both its exotic location and its scare factor is Bhangarh in India. Before you even get to the location the locals will gladly send chills down your spine with some of the scariest ghost stories ever. Then you will come up to a warning of an Authority not to visit the location after dusk. Mother Nature even issues her own warning with the birds and wildlife falling silent at night. No one has ever even attempted to spend the night with the spirit of the sorcerer that haunts the Bhangarh.
We hope you have a safe and spooky summer vacation.
